Welcome

The Rebel Pavilion was built in memory of our beloved daughter, Hanna Helen Ohlund.  In August of 2013 we lost Hanna in a tragic car accident that left our family broken.  Support for the Hanna Ohlund Memorial Fund at the Unity Foundation came flooding in and as the fog cleared we needed to, in Hanna’s words, “Do Something”.

Hanna loved her family and friends, her work as a hair stylist and educator at Timothy Jeffry Aveda Salon, 4-H Horse & Pony, LaPorte County Fair, her pony Rebel and SHOES.  As we talked and cried and talked more, the decision became very clear.  The LaPorte County Fair has been a huge part of our family. Fair week is officially our favorite week of the summer. The Horse & Pony area at the LaPorte County Fairgrounds has needed proper bathrooms for quite some time, and so it began.  Tonn & Blank Construction and LaPorte County Commissioners stepped up to the plate and the plans for a covered pavilion, new bathrooms and a concession area began to take shape.  In 2015 The Rebel Pavilion was constructed. In 2016 the bathroom and concession were opened in time for the 2016 LaPorte County Fair.  These projects were funded by the kind and generous donations from family and friends, countless volunteer hours and the support of Tonn & Blank and LaPorte County.

The Rebel Pavilion has grown into a public charity organization and will provide transparency of funds raised and disbursed with postings on TheRebelPavilion.org.  The Rebel Pavilion committee of volunteers are dedicated to raising funds for the education and improvement of youth equestrian programs in LaPorte County and making improvements to the LaPorte County Horse & Pony area at the LaPorte County Fairgrounds. All proceeds from horse shows, The Hanna Ohlund Memorial Golf Outing, Beer-Wine-Bites Event and the Annual Fair Steak Fry will benefit youth equestrians of LaPorte County and the LaPorte County Fairgrounds Horse and Pony area.
